The Betrayal On Planet Oobleck

I was about eighteen when NASA unveiled it's new space cruiser to explore a planet not far from here called Planet Oobleck. The ship was given the name Chips Ahoy! after the unique circular shape of a chocolate chip cookie.

It had the right crew for the July sixteenth 2008 take off date. I remember vividly who the crew consisted of. Captain Michael West who was the top notch scientist and navigator in the world , he led the crew. There also was Colonel Sanders who was an excellent weapons specialist in the navy. Then there was myself Tom Rogers, I was a scientist from Hawai'i that specialized on the surface of Planet Oobleck.

After the ship was unveiled NASA gave us the rest of the day off to get ready for the next day's long expected flight to the strange planet.

I thought I'd finish packing my necessities for the space trip. It was about 8 p.m. when I fell asleep in front of "Johnny Bravo" on the couch. I woke up at about 5:30 a.m.. So I could drive to Cape Canaveral to do some last minute touch ups before the Chips Ahoy! took off.

About 10 to 15 minute later Captain West pulled into the parking lot of Cape Canaveral in his B.M.W.. Then, Colonel Sanders and the rest of the crew arrived to suit up and get on the Chips Ahoy!. It was now departure time, 10:30 July 16, 2008 I could hear the countdown 5,4,3,2,and 1 right at that moment the 70,000 degree fire turbo boosters blasted and we left Earth. We wouldn't be coming back till the next week.

As we headed into the galaxy I turned on my CD player to hear Bob Marley singing Buffalo Soldier. Colonel Sanders shouted obscenities at me to turn the music off before we landed. Without arguing I turned it off.

About five minutes after the grouchy Sanders shouted at me Captain West turned on the heat dispensers so we would be able to land. It was quite interesting how it works. Heat makes the Oobleck harden and the heat dispensers make it easier for us to land. After the Chips Ahoy! landed Captain West turned off the ship. When it was safe to stand up, the whole crew felt like we needed to all stretch out because we all felt stiff and light headed. Captain West ordered that we all get used to the atmosphere for the remainder of today and to lounge around, so for the first day we cruised. Before you now it, it was the next day.

When we were freshening up an getting ready for the day we all heard this stomping and rumbling noise outside . The noise continued for about another two minutes and then it stopped. After getting out from a cloud of fright Captain West asked me, "What was that noise, Tom?"

I replied, " beats me captain."

It was kind of embarrassing at first when I said that because I'm the person that is supposed to know everything about this strange planet. I didn't know what that sound was. As mellow as he was Captain West accepted my answer in a compromising manner. Captain West thought that we should go back to Earth because we don't want to risk our lives in this place.

Colonel Sanders objected and he said "We must go out there and explore because isn't that why were here."

Captain West and the crew didn't like that idea. Still Colonel Sanders disagreed and for the rest of the night those two officers argued until Colonel Sanders insulted Captain West lost it and threw his officer out of the ship. As soon as he was out Captain West and the rest of us scientists got the heck out of there. While we were back home, Colonel Sanders was probably eaten by whatever made that noise. I don't think anyone missed him. So the mission was terminated and till this very day in 2025 NASA hasn't sent any more probes or ships to that planet fearing whatever species was responsible for that noise.
