Gasping
The blazing hot sun rose steadily over the
Ooblanian Mountains as I rode the waves like the
famous surfer Duke Kahanamoku. Nothing could have
pulled me down. It was October 4, 2045 and I had
just turned 17. A perfect set was coming in as I
paddled out. I turned around as fast as a fish
seeing a shark and rode it all the way in. A sense
of pride filled within me. Just before I reached
the shore, my leash got caught on the famous
Oobleckiash Reef and pulled me under. That was the
last I remembered.
"Doctor, she was unaccompanied when we found
her. None of the local surfers know who she is. We
think that she just moved here from Kailua on the
Planet Hawaii. We aren't going to be able to
identify her until we get the records from
Hawaii."
"God, I wish those teenagers would be more
careful. That Oobleckiash Sea has a mind of it's
own," I heard the doctor say.
"Where am I? Who are you? What am I doing here?"
These questions began to fly out of my mouth like
dolphins darting beneath the sea.
"Calm down. My name is Dr. Quack. You are in
Kcelboo Memorial Hospital. A group of surfers found
you unconscious in the Oobleckiash Sea. God knows
why you there. Do you know your name?"
I think my name is Rakelle," I replied
uneasily.
I fell in and out of conciousiness last night.
When I woke up the next morning, I was in a mansion
as big as Planet Hawaii. A lady who really needed
to wear some make-up said her name was Chas and
claimed that she was my mother.
As I was relaxing on the sofa, I got a phone
call from a woman who said her name was Janis and
she too claimed to be my mother. I quickly found
Chas and informed her of what happened. As fast as
the words came out of my mouth, the face turned
white and a look of nervousness crossed her
face.
I met my father that night. His name is John and
it turns out that he and Chas are the King and
Queen of Planet Kcelboo. I guess that makes me
Princess Rakelle. If we are from
Planet Kcelboo, why did the surfers find me in
the Oobleckiash Sea which is on Planet Oobleck.
Things just weren't adding up. Planet Oobleck and
Planet Kcelboo had been enemies for as long as
anyone can remember. That is the one thing that I
still remember out of everything that I lost from
my memory. That just happened to stick there. I was
in for a big surprise the next day.
I was sent to work at 'Royal Palace Junk Yard'.
It turns out that I was now a slave. My hair smelt
of pig slops and my clothes were torn to shreds.
everyone around me looked as if they had been
living in a garbage dump all their lives. I
couldn't take this anymore.
"What is happening mom? why am I doing slave
work? Aren't I a princess?" i questioned Queen
Chas.
"You foolish girl! You aren't really our
duaghter. We just said you were so we could put you
to work. The whole surfing accident was a set up.
We paid those surfers to say that they didn't know
who you were. You are King Keanu adn Queen Janis'
daughter. You're an Ooblanian. We are using you to
hurt Planet Oobleck. The whole planet will have to
obey our commands since they will be mourning the
loss of their poor little princess," replied the
Queen with an evil smirk on her face.
I needed to get to PLanet Oobleck as fast as
lightning flashes in the sky. The only problem was
getting away from the Queen. She watched me like a
hawk getting ready to swoop down onto a mouse. I
needed to creat a diversion so I could sneak out
and get home.
Queen Chas, I am going to the garden to pick
some flowers for the dinner table," I shouted
hoping and praying that she would believe it.
"Hurry up and don't take too long! We wanna
eat," she shot back.
This was my chance. I ran out of the side gate
with the few belongings I had. I dashed to the
airport hoping that the lst flight to Planetn
Oobleck hadn't already left.
I ran as quickly as I could to the boarding
gate. Just as I was about to walk through the door,
I hand grabbed my arm and firmly pulled it. I was
yanked around to see Queen Janis' horrid face.
"What do you think you're doing? I thought you
were going to pick flowers. Don't you ever lie to
me again you little twit! Did you actually think
that you could escape me," she shouted at the top
of her lungs causing people to stare.
After I had been dragged back "home", I was
locked in my excuse of a room for a week and a
half. The very night that the lock was taken off my
door, I ran away again. As I was running across
that lawn, Bruiser who is Queen chas' dog began to
attack me. This awoke Queen Janis from her much
needed beauty sleep. She rushed outside and began
to yell at me. Bruiser had torn my clothes and left
me bleeding. I stayed awake for the rest of the
night praying for a miracle.
Then it came to me, I was going to set off the
smoke detector. Then, when the fire department
comes, there will be such a commotion that no one
will notice me. I will flee to the aiport. I will
then escape to Planet Oobleck and be free. This was
easier said than done.
The night had finally arrived. The wind was
howling outside and everyone was in a place called
sleep. I had picked out a pair of black pants and a
black long sleeve shirt. I needed to be stealth in
the night. I got a piece of elastic and lit it on
fire. I waved the elastic in front of the smoke
detector. It began to ring almost as fast as the
elastic began to reak. As soon as I saw Queen Chas
coming, I ran out the door. The fire trucks sirens
were blaring so loud that I thought I was going to
lose my hearing. All of the nosy neighbors rushed
out of their houses to play news reporter and find
out what was going on. Here was my chance. I ran
like I had never ran before. I was as fast as a
cheetah.
I finally reached the airport. Gasping for
breath, I ran to the gate to board the spaceship.
"Rakelle!! Get back here, " shouted a King
John.
I felt his big hands grasp my arm. My arm felt
as if the bone had been snapped in two. Punching,
kicking and screaming for my life, I fought off
King John. Leaving him laying on the ground
fighting for his life, I ran onto the
spaceship.
As soon as I reached home,I searched frantically
for the biggest house on the block. I stepped up to
a gate that said, "Home of King Keanu and Queen
Janis."
I ran up to the front door. Ringing the doorbell
hoping that I was at the right house, I jumped
around anxiously. A lady with perfect complexion
and a voice as sweet as angels singing answered the
door. "Rakelle! My baby! You're back," she
shouted.
I could tell that i ws at home by the feeling I
had in my heart. Now, I could reminise about the
things I really longed for.
