The Mistake on Oobleck
Landing in Fear
I sat on my cold metal seat, strapped in by a
long belt, sweating, wondering what will happen
next in this vast dull room. I took a deep breath
and than let all the air out. I opened my eyes as
slowly as a turtle can walk. I turned my head
slightly, I saw the vast cold room with people
strapped in their seats, waiting in their stations,
working sweating while I sat in this window seat
chair. My head continued to turn slowly till I was
able to see the vast open space outside of the
ship. I then suddenly saw a large planet in the
vast nothing of space; this planet was red, green,
purple, and brown.
My name is Brain Golin and I'm part of the crew
of the Mosquito. Our ship was sent up into space to
find another suitable place to live on since earth
is becoming to crowded. Are ship is owned by the
National Committee of scientists (CoS) and the
World International Ally Military (WIAM). I'm part
of the WIAM division. I'm a General and I command
most of the military on this ship.
"This is the planet Oobleck, it is our next stop
to find a suitable place to live." Captain Lawrence
said over the P.A.
"Please prepare for our arrival on Oobleck,"
announced Captain Lawrence.
I than prepared for landing by doing the normal
procedure. I than grasped a cold slender metal pole
so hard that I would be able to crush a human bone.
Our ship started to go faster, and faster, and
faster. My heart than started to beat faster as the
ship went faster. My sensitive ears caught the
sound of my heart playing a roaring drum roll, my
eye's than closed shut full of fear. I started t
breath harder and harder, each breath getting
faster and faster. The sounds of the legs caused
everyone to jump in their seats. I than opened my
eyes and the room was flashing red. I knew for sure
we were landing for this flashing red signaled that
we were about to approach and land on a planet. I
than felt a slight jerk, the ship than slowed down
and came to a stop.
The Journey Begins
"Crew of the Mosquito, welcome to the planet of
Oobleck. Our databases are now scanning the planet
to collect data on this planet. Please report to
your probe launching stations to prepare for space
walk n Oobleck." Announced captain Lawrence over
the P.A.
"If some of you don't know me, I'm Professor
B.K. Lau. I will now be giving you some
instructions and reports on this planet. Our
purpose for this mission we went on isn't to find
any planet to live on. We came on this mission to
journey to this planet of Oobleck to do research
and see if it is a suitable place for humans to
live on." Announced the professor in an Irish
accent.
"The planet of Oobleck is a strange planet. We
have just landed on the ocean of Oobleck. Some of
you may be puzzled because we are still afloat. The
ocean is made from a strange substance called
Oobleck, which the planet is named after. This
planet has the atmosphere as earth so the use of
space suites is not required. We will be exploring
in our probes mostly through the jungle. May you
please have a safe and happy adventure?" Finished
Professor Lau.
I than left my seat which was now flooded with
sweat of fear and anxiousness. I went down through
the grand marble hall, which was now packed with
military personnel heading down to their stations.
I than entered the grand hall which was now full of
people to. I stood in the line to get to my
launching station. Out the window I saw the red
orange sky filled with fluffy clouds dancing in the
sky like the trees. Than I saw five probes shooting
through the sky like bullets.
The Grim View
I was at my station, thousands of people filled
like a pastry with a cream filling. I grabbed my
heavy suit and slipped it on and it dropped on me
as if it weighed a ton. Then Commander Lawrence
came to make an announcement.
"Welcome soldiers of the 1st Officers Division.
We'll be exploring the island of Oobleck shortly.
Make share all weapons are armed and we strictly
prohibit the use of these weapons for fun. Unless
given the authority to you may have permission to
use the weapons. The first ships that were launched
are mapping our exploration courses." Captain
Lawrence announced.
I than went to my ship to board. The night
before I was able to arm my weapons and calibrate
my ship. Every one was hurrying to get their ships
ready. I than opened my cockpit from the outside
and the glass slowly rose with the blue sun that
was shining over the red sky. I boarded my ship and
entered in my I.D. number to turn my ship on. The
lights all turned in my ship and the overhead
virtual screens turned on. I than told the ships
computer to turn on the engines but have the brakes
on. Slowly I moved up in the line to take off. The
director of flights was signaling when to take off.
A voice than echoed through my speaker, it said
that I was allowed to take off. I than commanded my
ship to disable the brakes and I was off in the red
sky of Oobleck ready to start my adventure, but I
didn't know what surprises were up ahead on this
mysterious planet.
I was in the air flying in Oobleck. It was
amazing, the land was filled with purple mountains,
lush green jungles full of mysterious looking
trees, the ocean was green and wavy and it was
impossible to see what lurked beneath it. The
shores were rocky and filled with yellow sand would
stretch to the horizon. At the foot of the
mountains there would be deserts and beaches and
the sky had no clouds in sight for miles except for
one spot on the in the jungle. I went over towards
the direction to see what was there. As I turned to
that direction I noticed the jungle below moving a
lot. Maybe it was just some creatures that lived it
the jungle. Other explorers followed me to. The
smoke got ticker and bigger, as I approached it.
When I arrived at the area I saw the smoke at I was
shocked to see what it was. On the ground there
were five explorers.
"Why are searching on your own, you didn't get
your mapped course yet. You have to wait till we
get it from the mapping explorers, don't you that?"
Captain Lawrence told me during his lecture.
"Sir, I'm sorry but I came to see what the smoke
was and you should come here quickly. The smoke was
caused by the five mapping explorers, they were
shot down. Bring the some extra explorers down to
this may be a serious problem." I replied to
captain Lawrence.
I than saw more explorers coming in the
distance. By the time they got here the smoke had
cleared up a little and the wreckage was in sight.
The twisted metal was scattered all over the ground
and glass was glittering on the ground. I than
landed my ship carefully trying not to hit any of
the other ships or land on the wreckage.
When I stepped outside I was able to smell
burning metal and fuel mixed with the smell of the
Oobleck jungle. Captain Lawrence came out too.
Every ones jaws dropped at the site of the
wreckage.
"This was no collision or accident, this was an
attack." A voice shouted in the background.
Around us the jungle started to move, the trees
swayed from left to right and the sounds of
screaming creatures running filled the atmosphere.
Everyone including me armed our weapons. Every one
was getting nervous and suddenly the jungle stopped
moving and the eerie screams stopped. What was this
everyone thought? The wind stated to blow harder
and everyone huddled together back to back. It
became quite, a little too quite. Suddenly out of
nowhere strange creatures jumped from the jungle
armed like they were in a war.
The Great Mistake
"Welcome you strange creatures, what are you?
Why do you come to attack Oobleck and its
Oobloocks? Why did you come? We did nothing to you
and you came and sent a whole strike force against
us!" The tall, slender, purple, creature shouted in
hate. "If you don't know me you are fools! I'm
General Lokin, Officer of the Oobleck army. I have
sent a retaliation strike against by shooting down
some of your ships to come and distract you to come
here so we could trap you. Whahahahahahahahah!"
"Get ready men and, fire!" Commander Lawrence
shouted.
Lasers were flying all over the place. Men and
Oobloocks were falling, shouting and screams of
suffering filled the air. I called for
reinforcements to come and aide us.
The fighting continued for hours and no
reinforcements came. The Oobloocks came pouring
from the hills and mountains. I turned to look over
to the vast horizon and saw dot's approaching. They
finally arrived and launched their plasma cannons.
More of the human troops unloaded to take us back
to the Mosquito. I quickly hurried to one of the
relief transporters and we were off to the
Mosquito. The battle field was filled with bodies
put to rest never to wake up again.
It was great to be back at the Mosquito but
there was something strange. I now had a feeling
that we wouldn't be leaving here for a while
because we were now at war. All the men and women
that were fighting were now exhausted. Over the
P.A. commander Lawrence called all of the 1st
Officers division for a meeting.
"I want each of you to take 200 hundred fighters
to go to the Oobloocks great city for
reconnaissance missions. This city is vast, around
268,000 sq. miles so we need a lot of spying. We'll
be doing this during nightfall and well try bomb
some targets." Commander Lawrence briefed us.
So we left to go to the great city of Oobleck.
It took a while to get there, we flew over the vast
jungles, the rolling desert hills of the mountains,
up the purple slopes of the mountain, and over the
green lakes and in the distance there were lights
that never seemed to end. I knew that this was the
great city of Oobleck. We flew high so we wouldn't
be detected by radar. We took many pictures which
took us many hours and we were done. Now it was
time to do the bombing raids. So went to a steep
elevation going lower and lower by the second. We
then fired our Guided Plasma bombs. When they hit
the ground they made a large greens flash. Then out
of the darkness the Oobloocks launched a counter
offensive on us. Lasers pierced through the cold
air lighting up the sky. Flames soared through the
sky and I knew that was fighter being shot.
"Pull out troops, pull out! Lead them to the
Mosquito we can trap them!" Commander Lawrence
commanded in a panicked voice.
So we all headed back to our ship but the
Oobloocks continued to fire at us and ships went
down one by one. When we got to the Mosquito we
circled around and the Oobloocks tried to fire at
it but the force fields were up and nothing could
pierce through it.
The Battle of Mosquito
We circled around the ship again while we saw
our ship start to glow. Suddenly lasers came
pouring out of the ship. Many of the enemy's
fighters were going down in the ocean. The laser
missiles were launched far out in the horizon to
the city. Many more of the enemy's fighters came
blazing into the battle.
The battle lasted for hours and hours and
finally the enemy retreated. We than persuade them
to the jungle. The Mosquito fired guided lasers at
the Oobloocks. The Ooblecks had Anti-Aircraft right
below the trees and fired their cold blue lasers at
us. My ship was nipped by one and almost crashed.
We called for more reinforcements and we destroyed
all the Anti-Aircraft and the battle was over. We
than headed back to the great city and the sun
began rising.
There in my cockpit I could see great towers
towering over the clouds. Fighters were all over
the sky circling around one tall tower. It was
different from all the others o it became our
target. Everyone armed their plasma cannons and
fire. They all hit at once and boom! The ground
below shook and our ships rattled. The tower
started to crack and shake than it fell. Everyone
was happy and all the fighters of the enemy landed.
We knew the war was over.
"We give up please don't destroy anymore. We are
sorry for attacking you but you shouldn't have
started the attack." Cried the leader of all
Oobleck
"We didn't want to attack in the first place! We
just came here to find a place to live." Said
Commander Lawrence
So everything was settled and in the end there
was a feast. The destruction of the great monument
ended the war. After humans became to settle in
Oobleck and everyone lived in peace. This was later
named as the Mistake on Oobleck.
