Planet Oobleck

We were all looking forward to the Oobleck trip. It seemed as if we had to wait a century before it was time to depart planet Earth. Our crew had to learn about all the properties of Oobleck so that we could make our trip a huge success. When the day came to board the ship, we were more than prepared for the long trip that lay ahead of us. We would be gone for a total of 6 weeks. Everyone was so enthusiastic about it. No one had a sad nor mad feeling about this trip. Everywhere you looked, there would be a smiling face. They were also feeling very anxious. They knew that it would be a fun trip.

By the time we were in space, we were starting to get a little bored. Right when the ship lifted off into the air was the best part of the whole trip. It was because you could feel the ship accelerating off into the air. About a forth of the way to the planet, everyone was getting a little antsy. There still was one positive thing about space. It was a really neat thing to look at and enjoy. It was pitch black and huge. It looked like it never ended. We were still able to see some of the far off planets. We also could see all of the stars. They looked a lot brighter from up in space. If you looked to the left, you could see planet Oobleck far, far off. It was a nice bright green. It was kind of hard to make out.

"Are we there yet?" said John. John was a tall and skinny impatient person. He had curly brown hair. "Relax, we''re almost there," said Ashley. Unlike John, Ashley was a very patient person. She had long, black straight hair. It went down to her lower back. "We'll get there before you know it."

"Hey, Derek, said Sam. how long did you say it was going to be again?" "We should be arriving there any minute now," I said. The rest of our crew, Austin, Jessica, and Bob seemed to be excited and joyous. Bob was complaining that he was going to die of boredom any minute now. I knew that once we arrive on the planet, he won't be so bored anymore.

Just then, the view of the planet appeared. "There it is, shouted John. We are really, really here." Everyone stood up and walked over to the window to get a good look at the planet. It was a huge green planet. It was picture perfect. It did have some brown spots on it but the rest of it was all different shades of green. It went from a light, yellow green, to a dark, forest green. It was spectacular. Its picture was so cool it would have been framed and hung up on my wall in my bedroom. "I still have one question, said austin. Where will we land?" "I'm not to sure about that. I haven't really been thinking about where exactly we will land. We will have to decide on that, " I said. "I think we should land near the shore, said Ashley." That way, if we start to sink, the shore will be right there for safety. Austin said we should land where the Oobleck is 500 feet deep. John said we should land as far away from shore as possible. He didn't like the idea of having the only chance of any life forms on this planet next to us. He was afraid that there might be sea monsters.

Soon, people were yelling and screaming at eachother saying that their idea was better than someone elses. John said that Ashley's idea should go straight into the trash. Austin said that nobody's ideas were as good as his. He was bragging that his idea was the best idea in the world. "Everyone be quite. We won't get anywhere if we yell at eachother. We will just be creating more of a problem if we are yelling at eachother. Soon, our friendship bond will break like shattered glass. We don't want that to happen. We all just have to respect one anothers ideas or thoughts. We have to decide where we will land in a nice and kind manner. "We'll what did you have in mind, Derek?" "Well, I think we should land right in the middle of the Oobleck. That way, we can station our ship there, and start to explore around us. We can go toward the shore, away from the shore, or in any direction we want. Another reason is so we can be in a deep part so we can even go under the surface to see what lies beneath. We also won't be too close to shore, but we won't be too far from shore either. Now, does everyone agree?" "Yes!!!." "Good. I was hoping you were. So we are set to land right in the middle," I replied.

Once we landed, we briefly went over what we are keeping our eyes open for. Then, we set off. We put 2 people on each exploring ship. Every ship set off in a different direction. That way, we will cover the most possible ground in the shortest possible time. Each ship was uniquely designed so that it was fire proof, and stored extra life preservers and jackets. Also, they had a toilet and even a place where you could get food and drinks from. All you have to do is press a few buttons. Your food or drink will just pop out.

The Oobleck was awesome. Some parts of it were a darker shade of green than other parts. It was a really cool thing to discover. The only problem was that it was really thick and that made it hard to move around in. Unfortunately, we did not find any living animals or organizms. But we still had a lot of fun exploring it.

At the end of our trip, when it was time to go home, we did a follow-up on the trip. We had to write what we liked and disliked about the trip. Also, what problems did we encounter. We also got to collect some Oobleck to bring home. Everyone had a really great time. even though Bob was bored in the beginning, he ended up turning out fine. It was a great trip. We hope to do more excursions like this. We also learned that by yelling at people, you will get nowhere. If everyone in the group gives their own opinion, then you can start to decide on where you will land from there. If everyone starts to yell and scream at eachother, you will be in more trouble than before.

I think that everyone in our crew had a great expierience with this trip. We all learned a lesson and now we know that you must cooperate in order to be successful as a team. You cannot have people disrespecting others' thoughts.
