Distant Discoveries
The sound of the firing engines burning as we
took off was silent scream to the crew mates ears.
They were ecstatic in their minds but still sweat
dripped down the sides of their faces. The twenty
crew mates on this ship are all here for their own
accomplishments, skills, and talents. For instance,
six men here are all drillers that specialize in
pumping large amounts, they were needed to get
sources of oobleck for scientists to study. Also
there are five women crew mates, who specialize
imachinery, mechanics, and measurements. even two
secretary's are needed for work organizing and
helping the captain. The captain is a leader and
instructor to everyone and specializes in
technology, and skill. the two scientis who attends
this journey are very important because they
specialize in scientific research and the study of
this land and its environment. There are four
people who have skills in study, machinery, and
explanatory detail.
When the crew had a view of the planet Oobleck
like the view of people when your on a mountain,
they noticed the crew left out a big detail... "NO
CONTACT WITH EARTH WHATSOEVER", a woman named
Audrey yelled out with the rest of the crews faces
pale as a marshmallow. They had no idea what was
going to happen or what dangers. Captain Chrales
(Mr. Daniel Charles) explained to everyone that the
range was way to far for contact with earth and the
times on the clocks everywhere stopped and went
blank. Everyone felt a cold chill spike down their
spine and hair on end feeling a tremendous pain to
their heads. The shock of being cut off from all
sign of civilization was frightening.
The flight was going as slow as a tortuous
walking his slowest. But even in the long waiting
everyone was intense. Once they finally got fifty
feet away from planet oobleck the captain was
pacing and signaled for the burners to start and
the process went smoothly. They all landed with
the right timing and speed. Captain Smith listed
the names of all the crew mates 2 female
secretaries, 6 male mechanics/technologists,6
female mechanics/ technologists, 1 captain,1 co-
captain, 3 researchers, and 2 scientists to get to
know everyone because they would be together for a
long time.
They all got into different groups judging by
their "jobs" and got all the equipment needed to
explore. The first few days they went out with high
hopes searching the farthest ends of the land for
new interesting discoveries. At the end of the
third day they grew tired of each other because of
a little bit of "ranking" of people's jobs but no
one took great notice (yet).
They woke to no pink sky or morning dew bur to a
dark misty universe hovering above them filled with
stars and millions of undiscovered places. the
tension grew some days between the group of
mechanics, secretaries and the rest of the crew
because they felt felt their jobs weren't as unique
and were treated unfairly during most activities.
The captain, co-captain and 3 researchers on Th.
other hand stayed neutral and willing to work
things out with everyone so together they could
accomplish more.
One night everyone unexpectedly had a fight. It
was a "sneak attack" in the middle of the night,
some people were injured, but not seriously of
course. They could have damaged a lot of supplies
and years of study if the captain and four other
friends hadn't showed up to break apart the
spitefulness in time.
Still everyone ignored and annoyed each other
while searching. Many people argued over small
things, one leading to the next. This went on until
the captain and his group called a meeting where
everyone interrupted each other and argued until
there was an awkward silence in the living room and
one by one everyone left the living room heading t
their sleeping rooms in anger. No one talked for a
long time to his or her enemies.
One day while exploring, the group of neutral
friends forgot to check the fuel on the machines
that dry the paths with fire and didn't notice the
fire had turned off. The machine kept walking
leading the group and they found themselves sinking
in in a wet swamp of thick green oobleck. The two
groups who unfortunately were against each other
hesitated to work let alone speak to each other to
save the people who were always nice to both groups
of different people. Deep down they forgot what the
whole reason they were fighting for was and got
caught up in the thought of winning. Meanwhile,
while the groups were silent the captain was in to
his neck sinking faster and yelled,"Oh please kiss
and make up ya bunch of brats you all are acting
like kids who don't have common decency to show at
least a little respect, I'm really disappointed in
you guys. NOW HELP! you bunch of
babies",impersonating a teacher or gardian like
figure. They couldn't believe they let it go so far
to the point that they put the lives of true
friends at risk and together helped peel the people
out of the wet oobleck. As they grabbed the last
person out one person softly said at a time with a
little difficulty Sorry.
The rest of the days they stayed on the planet
were almost perfect with more discoveries and
observation of other peoples feelings and
characteristics and also discoveries of land
formations and marks and possibly a knew unknown
substance to study, friendships mended and a safe
but slow flight. When they landed they rejoiced to
se the world as they knew it but hesitated to leave
many friends and happy memories behind , they had
made so many distant discoveries!
