Lost On Ooblack
"Keola, Ryan, Nate, Jordan, and Mikey pizza is
here let's eat," I yelled.It's my birthday finally
the BIG 1-3."OK," the guys replied. After we ate I
asked," Do you guys want to checout my dad's new
spaceship it is so cool! He said one day he would
take me tothis planet it's course is set for it's
called Ooblack or something.""Sounds awesome," Nate
replied. Everyone else said okay and we entered
mydad's work shop where he keeps the spaceship. I
knew we weren't supposed togo in so I felt a little
uneasy about letting my friends in.Jordan asked,"
What are we waiting for David? I thought you said
we coulgo in and check out your dad's new
spaceship." I thought about it for a fewmore
seconds and decided what is the worse that can
happen. I entered thecode in the number pad on the
side of the door. The door slide open, I couldfeel
something wrong was about to happen.Keola asked,
"What does this do," and he pushed it.I turned to
look at Keola and there was a look of shock on his
face and Ilooked out the window. We were moving!
Chills ran, no sprinted up my spine Icouldn't
believe it we were going to space on my thirteenth
birthday. Iwondered what planet we where going ,to
will we survive, and will we ever getback"WOW!,
What a cool planet." Keola said amazed."It
isextremely hot," Ryan commented. My stomach
tossed and turned like Iwas having a bad dream.I
asked curiously," What do you think is out
there?"Nate replied, "There's only one way to find
out.""Do you think it's safe, I mean maybe we
should just go back to earth. We could get hurt or
worse. I wasn't supposed to show you guys the ship
in thefirst place!," I said scared of what might
happen."Don't be a baby David we will just explore
a little and be back in time for breakfast,"
Jordan said assuring."Okay, let's go," I said
uneasily. The things we didn't know that there are
two dangers on planet Ooblack. The blazing hot sun
(which averaged about one hundred and ten degrees
at this time of year) and the two giant cats that
do nothing but sleep, however when the are awakened
they bite anything in sight. After four pointless
hours of searching the boys found absolutely
nothing but dry land and the hot sun, which seemed
to be getting hotter every step they took.
I had been complaining about the sun the entire
time and asked to go back, but they all said just
another half an hour there must be something around
here. I began to get dizzy everything was way out
of focus, I started to sway like a palm tree slowly
then it went into a waddle when I walked and
finally I collapsed.
My friends ran to my side as their hearts raced
like track runners hoping I was okay. Mikey and
Jordan fiercely started yelling for help. They
kept watch like hawks for any other living things
besides us. "There!," Mikey had spotted the two
overgrown cats about twenty yards away. "I think
we should pick up David and all move just to be
safe," Jordan suggested. Everyone agreed and
carried David until the cats were no longer
visible. You could see the fear screaming in all
of their eyes. They all wondered what they should
do next. They pondered if they should start
heading back to the chip or search for help. Not a
second to late Nate spotted two people walking.
Two ladies named Summer and Sharon walked in the
boys direction. Sharon asked, "Do you boys need
any help?"
Keola immediately replied, "YES!, my fried has
fainted and our ship is many miles away, we don't
know where to go and, and…"
"Whoa, settle down we will take you all back to
our house and take care of you all until you are
all ready to return home." said Summer.
"What about my friend will he be okay?," asked
Keola nervously
Yes, he will be fine we will tend to him and
make sure he gets a full recovery," answered
Sharon. The boys all said in harmony," Thank
you!"
We stayed with Summer and Sharon and had a great
time hearing stories of people coming to the planet
and leaving in fear of the giant cats not to tell
any one of their journey. The ladies told them
that their ship had crashed and they decided to
stay on planet Ooblack. We offered them a ride
back but Summer and Sharon declined our offer and
explained to us that Ooblack had become their home,
that they are happy living on planet Ooblack and
couldn't think of leaving it. I recovered fine
within a day and when I awoke I thanked Summer and
Sharon very much. In the next week we started on
our long walk back to our ship, and blasted off
waving good-bye to Summer and Sharon. When we
landed back on earth we had to do a lot of
explaining to all of our parents especially to my
dad. He was furious, but he forgave us after a day
or two. We all told everyone we knew about our
amazing story, and I will never forget my
thirteenth birthday!
