Surviv
As I look back in the year 2001, where a group
of young individuals, including myself, had the
greatest opportunity to travel into space. We met
in the 6th grade. Since I had the longest name they
called me Kau'i. The other individuals were Niki
who is 22, Alysha 23,Thomas 23, sam(short for
samson), Kaipo 24 and I was 23. All of us had
shared the same interest which was Space. While
going to Harvard University, we learned about a
planet called Oobleck. So one day during one of our
classes, while we were learning about the Oobleck
we said,"Let's be the first ones to explore the
planet." ON January 12, 2000 we started to build
our spaceship. The spaceship had to be able to hold
six individuals. We each were assigned a job
position. Thomas had to get the information on the
planet, Niki, and Alysha had to learn how to fly
the spaceship, Kaipo, and Sam were the ones who did
the experiments, and I had to make a spaceship that
could land without sinking. Finally it's July, 13
2001, and were eligible to go into space. as we
took our position on the spaceship, we counted down
5-4-3-2-1.... blast off.Everything started to turn
into a dark,cold,lifeless zone. We were excited to
begin this unique journey in space. It's been 5min.
Thomas says,"The papers to find the planet is on
earth.'" So now none of us had a clue to find this
so called planet Oobleck. Thomas remembers that the
north star is directly above the planet Oobleck. It
took us 20 min. to find the planet. As we came
closer to the planet we all sat in amazement
looking toward the planet. None of us had seen such
an amazing lifeless, unique, object floating around
in space. In order to know that the planet is safe
to land on, we had the test the Oobleck. On the top
of the spaceship a ball is lifted out by an
electronically devise that drops the ball into the
Oobleck. Everyone sat nervously waiting to find out
if our spaceship would land safely on the Oobleck.
Then....... it landed safely. Our smiles was so big
it was like the sun shinning on it's hottest day.
It was so fantastic, to have this experience.Now we
only have 1 hour to spare on this planet. As Niki,
and Alysha joyfully landed the spaceship, while the
rest of us joined in the excitement." Ok, lets get
busy," said Alysha. Everything was going good,
Alysha, and Niki are preparing for the next take
off, Thomas is getting information on the Oobleck
planet, and Kaipo and Sam is experimenting with the
Oobleck. We have a little time left and we have to
hurry, before we departure from this planet.
Something mysteriously happens. On the second floor
where sam, and Kaipo are experimenting, sam
accidentally rubbed his eyes with a chemical on his
hand. Kaipo said,"he accidentally forgot to wash
his hands, then he rubbed his eyes." Now everyone
had their own problems to worry about. So I had the
problem in my lap. I had no choice but to nurse
Sam, and fly the spaceship. It was complicated to
do two things at once, but I managed to do so. The
timing was prompt, and we did an awesome job.
Although we did not get to stay on that extrodinary
planet longer than we planned, but at least we can
say , we seen it's ability to function, and was
able to do different types of experiments on the
planet. The six people including myself got the
opportunity to explore and witness this amazing
planet. It was a memorable experience.As I think
back on these happy times, I am proud to say that
we made it that far.
