Instructional Procedure with Approximate
Time Line
1. Design (35 minutes)
- Sketch, decide, draw design using
contour lines.
- Check your drawing with the teacher. The
drawing should focus in on the main theme and use the space
effectively.
2. Relief (35 minutes)
- The teacher will give you a 9" x 12"
piece of foil. Using masking tape, tape the foil to a 9" x 12"
cardboard, then tape the drawing to the foil.
- Using an art pencil (hard lead), trace
the design. You should push down hard enough to make an
indentation on the foil.
- Lift your drawing to check if that is
happening.
- Remove the cardboard and the drawing
from the foil. Place a piece of rubber padding on the table under
the area which is to be pushed out. Place the foil front side down
and using a tongue depressor, push out the area that you want to
stick out.
- Push out closer objects more. Farther
objects push out a little.
- Add texture. Rub areas on such things as
screens, wire mesh, etc to add texture in appropriate
areas.
3. Color (35 minutes)
- Using markers, color your picture. If an
area needs to be white use liquid paper.
- Write your name and section number on
the back of the foil and on a label.
