The Battle of Fort Donelson
Song Page

Sung to the tune of Yankee Doodle

At Fort Donelson in Tennessee
The battle was on the 15th
General Grant took his men
To fight against slavery

Kick those rebels
Beat them up
Make them surrender
Puah 'um back and trap them tight
So we can win the fight

The Confederates attacked at the break of dawn
Surprising our troops
We still won, now the rebels are gone
They're prisoners to our group

Kick those rebels
Beat them up
Make them surrender
Push 'um back and trap them tight
So we can win the fight

The fighting lasted for one day
At the end we all shouted hooray
Many men gave their lives
For change to arrive

Kick those rebels
Beat them up
Make them surrender
Push 'um back and trap them tight
So we can win the fight
