The Unknown Battle

Known to very few people, the battle of Champions Hill lasted for only six hours, though it was significant in leading to the Battle of Vicksburg. Here the two armies collided with the Union forces led by General Ulysses S. Grant and the Confederate forces led by Lieutenant John C. Pemberton. The surprise meeting left thousands either dead, wounded, or missing.
