Supply routes were a necessity during the Civil War. If you wanted to win the war, you needed lots of them. Chattanooga was filled with supply routes. The Union needed to take those routes, and if they did they could win the war. There was only one problem though, the supply routes were under confederate control.

The Confederates and the Union had battle for those Supply routes. Each side had hoped that the campaign goes in their favor.
