cannon

The Armstrong rifle is actually a cannon. It was invented by an English man named Sir William George Armstrong in 1854. The Armstrong rifle's most noticeable trait is its barrel. Its series of graduated coils over a lengthwise tube that make it look like a giant collapsible telescope. Exploding guns were much of a problem back then so when the Armstrong rifle came out it was very successful. These guns shot out twelve pound grooved projectiles 2,200 yards, but the smaller three inch breech-loading rifle sends a projectile of the same size only 2,100 yards.
