The Battle of Cold Harbor
Song Page

Sung to Yankee Doodle

General Lee was for the grays
And Grant was for the Union
When Grant attacked it was all over
For the messed up blue men

Grant attacked with horse and gun
But Lee was very ready
When Lee fought back with men and sword
Had Grant and his men worried

At 4:30 Grant snuck up
Upon the hated rebels
After twenty there was dead men
Laying all o'er the setting

All these dead men on the ground
And laying all o'er the setting
All the soldiers still alive
Were wondering and trembling

Was a vict'ry for the South
When Lee killed all Grant's soldiers
Grant gave up and left Lee there
And Grant attacked no more
