Weapons

RifleThe musket was a heavy large-caliber muzzle-loading usually smoothbore shoulder firearm a shoulder gun carried by infantry during the civil war. It fired a variety of bullets ranging from a ball to a U shape. The musket was latter replaced in the civil war with the rifle. The final type of flint-ignition gun was the flintlock. Most of the the muskets used during the civil war were flintlocks. they were debulletssigned to protect the powder from moisture until it was struck by the flint of the hammer. The muskets had and effective range of less then 90m or 300 ft. because of this sometimes hand to hand combat was more effective then firing from a distance. It was also very ineffective against large groups of on coming enemies.
