Environmental Conditions: On June 27, 1864 the North and the South began and ended the Battle on Kennesaw Mountain. As if fighting a battle is bad enough these soildgers had to fight in 100 degree weather and to top it all off it had rained the previeious days before that. Imange trecking through muddy, soft, ground in swelting weather, and fighting against people that you once knew, or once were friends with. If the Union and the Confederaite had fought the battle in Georgia now, or with in the last decaide of years it would of been much easier. I couldn't guaranty weather or not it would be raining but the tempuaters would of been much less and a whole lot cooler. On avrage over a decaide the tempature during June in Georgia is 69 degresse farenhight. Weapon: Independent Light Artillery (ladies defender)
An example of independent light artillery is a cannon called the ladies defender. The ladies defender is an old muzzle loading cannon. Five and a half feet long, with a five inch barrel hole. The ladies defender was casted at the naval iron works, casting is when the gun is dipped in a type of clear covering that protects the cannon. During the battle of Shilo the cannon was captured by the Federal. When the war was over the cannon was concidered a antquic or symbol of the war. It was given to the winner of the war. The cannon gets it name from the type of cast the cannon was casted in. It was casted from the ladies miscellaneous items that they could use.
