Assault on Kenesaw Mountain
Song Page

Sung to the tune of "When Johnny Comes Marching Home"

June 27 was the date hurrah, hurrah

The year was 1864 hurrah, hurrah

Kennasaw Mountain battle grounds

Food was more than a hundred pounds

And they all were waiting down on the ground

To fight face to face BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM

The south was watching the north troops hurrah, hurrah

The south started to spread their troops hurrah, hurrah

The north thought they could do that too

And they thought they could break right through

They all started fighting on Kennesaw

To find out who would win BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM

The end was here the north had lost hurrrah, hurrah

The battle killed 4,000 men hurrah, hurrah

The south had lost 1,000 guys

The north had lost with frightened eyes

Which let the south have a great victory

Of Mt. Kennesaw BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM
