One type of military unit used in the civil war were Guerillas. These military units occupied areas behind enemy lines and were specialized in in harrasing and surprising the enemy instead of a massive frontal assault. They were sort of like spies but if they were caught, depending if they were orthodox in their actions, would be treated as a prisoner of war but if their methods were unorthodox, they were usuallly executed by their
captors.

The battle of fort McAllister was hot and humid and temperatures probably varied around 85-90 degree faranheit. Today's temperatures and weather conditions are basically the same at Savannah, Georgia except for maybe a few degrees difference in the temperature.
