Papahanaumoku is the main character of this story. Papahanaumoku is the father. He's the father of the heavens. Wakea is mother earth. Both Wakea and Papahanaumoku lived in Po, Darkness. When Papahanaumoku walked the earth he came across a ipu. The ipu was the source of life. Papahanaumoku flung the cover of the ipu into the air and he created the sky. He threw the seeds into the air and created the stars. He threw a pulp into the skys. It became the sun.

Wakea is mother earth. She wants to have a child with Papahanaumoku. So they create a child and named it Hawaii. Hawaii was the first island created. The last is Ni‘ihau. As the story progresses Papahanaumoku is caught cheating on wakea. He had a child with Hina and names it Moloka‘i. Then Papahanaumoku and Wakea remarry to have a child named Ni‘ihau and Kaua'i.
