Long ago in the time of the Hawaiians there lived an old and woman named Hina. Hina was very tired and needed to rest because her ill-tempered husband strived to make her do more work. So Hina worked and wished that she could go somewhere and rest herself.

The rainbow that was hanging in the sky heard her plea for help and decided to help her. The rainbow made and archway and started to climb. Hina was just at the halfway mark of the archway and realized that it was too hot and right at that moment she had collapsed and fell back to earth. When Hina awoke it was late at night and she walked back home where her husband was waiting for her. The husband was very angry and started abusing Hina. From there Hina started to run and the rainbow came back but instead of it arching to the sun it was arching to the moon. There Hina started to climb but the husband caught up to her and grabbed her ankle and broke it. Hina inured the pain and reached the moon.
