INTRODUCTION:

Ever wondered why the sun goes through the sky slowly? Ever wonder why iy won't go any faser? Well, back on the island of Maui, the sun went swiftly through the sky during the day. For many, many months, this bothered Maui. It was time for him to do something about this...

The legend tells the tale of Maui capturing the flaming hot sun. He was not too happy with the length of the days, and how short they were. This affected everything that he and his mother were doing.

One day, Hina asks Maui to have a talk with the sun. Hina wanted Maui to ask the sun to go slower through the day so he days were longer and so she could dry her kapa. Along with her, Maui could accomplish the many tasks that he needed to do also; such as trying to fly his kite.
