Famous
Kapālama
Famous is Kapālama in the calm
In the Kūkalahale rain,
The comfort of the Ōlauniu breeze
Place of the descendants of Kanaiaupuni
Here we are the children of Pauahi
With humility to God
Embraced by the abundance of love
Forever protecting all things Hawaiian
Live!
The Hawaiian race lives on!
Live!
The Hawaiian race lives on!
*Kanaiaupuni
is in reference to Kamehameha I, the conqueror
who
united the eight major islands
under one rule.
**ulu aloha is in reference to the pū‘ulu
(academic teams) at Kamehameha
Middle School.
*** This line is in reference to Charles Reed Bishop’s note that one of
the reasons Pauahi established the Kamehameha Schools is because she saw the
decline of the Hawaiian population.

Statement of Appreciation
We,
the students of Kamehameha Schools,
In appreciation of our founder, Bernice Pauahi Bishop,
Pledge
to develop our potential in all we do,
To
strive to meet our responsibilities,
To progress to the best of our ability,
To carry ourselves with dignity and pride.
So
we, the people of Hawaii,
For whom she cared so much,
Give thinks on this day of remembrance.
And remain forever indebted to her.

She smells the cool and refreshing air
Chilled is her skin by the Poaihala rain
She wears the mokihana, the adornment of Kaiona
She shivers in the chilly cold of California
She
delights and marvels at the creeping strawberries
That bloom profusely in the mist and chilly air
She remains with great love that comes from within
Her great heart whose depths cannot be measured
At
the waterfall of Niagara she saw the rainbow arch
And the mist that spread all around there
She shrank from the water spray shivered in the cold
And found warmth in the bosom of Hiilei
Answer,
O lady who walks in the sunshine of Kaiona
Where mirages dance on the ohai covered plain
In the very foggy rain on the cold night of Koolau
My companion of the ki and kukui of Kahoiwai.

For
All The Saints
For
all the saints who from their labors rest,
Who Thee by faith before the world confessed.
Thy Name, O Jesus, be forever blest.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Thou
wast their rock, their fortress and their might;
Thou, Lord, their Captain in the well-fought fight!
Thou, in the darkness drear, their one true light.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
O
may Thy soldiers, faithful, true and bold,
Fight as the saints who nobly fought of old.
And win, with them, the victor's crown of gold.
Alleluia! Alleluia!

PSALM
24: 1-5
The
Earth is the Lord's and the fullness
thereof; the world and those who dwell therein;
For
he has founded it upon the seas, and
established it upon
the rivers. Who shall
ascend the hill of the Lord: And
who shall
stand in his holy place?
He
who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not lift up his soul to what is
false, and does not swear deceitfully.
He
will receive blessings from the Lord,
and vindication from the God of his
salvation.

Proverbs
22:1-6
A
