1. During the block schedule on 5/1 and 5/2, conduct research on the topic you selected at random. In addition to information acquired on the internet, you are required to use the wealth of print resources your teachers have obtained. These print resources will be available in room 88 and the Learning Center. Be sure to use a variety of resources. That is, DO NOT use only internet sources. Take notes on the sheets included in your American Civil War Project book. Don't forget to cite your sources using the guidelines provided in your packet.
 
2. After you and your group members complete the research phase, you will need to create two products: a Civil War portfolio and a Civil War song that summarizes your research and set to the tune of a patriotic American song.
 

Civil War Storybook:

•First, each person in your group must assume a role for this project. The roles are: Sergeant, Soldier, Statistician, and War Correspondent.

•Next, you will individually conduct research on your topic to fulfill your respective job requirements using print resources, the Civil War webquest, and other resources on the internet.

•Third, type your information according to the requirements provided. Your piece should have 1-inch margins, and be typed using Times New Roman or Arial 12-point font.

•Finally, organize all requirements according to the checklist located in the “Research” section of this book.

•On Monday, May 12, you will have one final opportunity to finish your final product. Final versions of your portfolio are due on Monday, May 12 by the end of 8th period to Ms. Cravalho. Last day to submit late projects for a 40% grade penalty is Thursday, May 15 by the end of 8th period.

 

Civil War Song:

•Each group will compose words to an original song that summarizes their topic to the tune of a patriotic American song.

•You and your group members will perform the song for a Kauila team teacher, who will then tape performances for the team. Taped performances will be shared at a later date. Be ready to present on Monday, May 12 during the first block.
 

Note: This project is a significant part of your fourth quarter grade.
